Ronaldo's Relationship Gets Royal Treatment: Saudi Arabia Makes Exception to Marriage Law

Last month, the 37-year-old Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Saudi Arabian football club Al Nassr in Riyadh after leaving Manchester United on unfriendly terms. The club has provided Ronaldo with luxurious accommodations and an annual salary of £175 million.

Last week on Tuesday, Ronaldo was presented to a crowd of 25,000 people at Mrsool Park in Riyadh as "the world's greatest footballer" as part of a grand celebration of his new sports journey with Saudi Arabia.

Although Ronaldo and his long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez will allegedly break the law in Saudi Arabia as it is illegal for non-married couples to live together, they aren't expected to be penalized by authorities.

It sounds like some people have cited the statements of two Saudi lawyers to support their speculation that Ronaldo and Rodriguez will not be penalized for breaking the law in Saudi Arabia by living together. The lawyers have reportedly also suggested that authorities are unlikely to become involved in Ronaldo's relationship with Rodriguez. It is important to note that this is just speculation at this point, and it is not clear what the official stance of the authorities will be.

It sounds like a lawyer familiar with the situation believes that authorities in Saudi Arabia have started to overlook the law prohibiting cohabitation without a marriage contract, and are not actively prosecuting anyone for violating this law. However, it is suggested that these laws may still be enforced in cases where there is a problem or crime involved. It is important to note that this is just the opinion of one lawyer and may not necessarily reflect the official stance of the authorities.

It appears that it is now widely known among the general public that Saudi authorities do not intervene in the personal matters of foreigners. According to a Spanish publication, "The Saudi Arabian authorities, today, do not interfere in this matter [in the case of foreigners] but the law continues to prohibit cohabitation outside of marriage." This suggests that while the law prohibiting cohabitation without a marriage contract remains in place, authorities are not actively enforcing it in cases involving foreigners. However, it is important to note that this information has not been officially confirmed, and it is always advisable to consult with local authorities or a legal professional before making any decisions that may potentially be in violation of the law.

Both Saudi govt and Ronaldo are not willing to comment on the issue publicly, or that the matter has not been formally addressed by either party. It is always best to rely on official statements and information from reliable sources when possible, rather than relying on speculation or rumors.

Ronaldo has been suspended from making his debut for his new club due to an outstanding sentence from the Football Association (FA). According to rumors, Ronaldo has not yet completed a two-game suspension for damaging an Everton supporter's phone during a game last season. However, it is important to note that this information has not been confirmed and should be treated as speculation until an official announcement is made.

If the ban was imposed on Ronaldo while he was playing for Manchester United, it is possible that it would carry over to his new club, Al Nassr, and prevent him from playing until he has completed the required number of games. According to the rules of the Football Association (FA), a player who is serving a suspension is not allowed to play for any club until they have served the required number of games that they would have been eligible to play in. It is important to note that this information is based on speculation and has not been confirmed by any official sources.
